The Association of Sign Language Interpreters of Nigeria (ASLIN), Lagos State Chapter, hosted its Mega Conference and Executive Handing-Over Ceremony on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at the Wesley School for the Hearing Impaired, Surulere, Lagos.
The conference brought together sign language interpreters, members of the Deaf community, and key stakeholders in disability inclusion to review the association’s progress and set priorities for the future. A major highlight of the event was the formal handover between the outgoing and incoming Executive Committees, signalling a new phase of leadership for ASLIN in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, General Manager of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA), charged the newly inaugurated executives to always strive to make a meaningful difference through their work, emphasising professionalism, impact, and service to the Deaf community. She reaffirmed the commitment of LASODA to continue working closely with ASLIN in promoting accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities across Lagos State.
In his remarks, ASLIN Lagos Chairman, Mr. Olubowale Sodeinde, commended both the outgoing and incoming executives for their dedication and service. He stressed the importance of collaboration, capacity building, and sustained advocacy in strengthening the practice of sign language interpretation in the state.
The event concluded with goodwill messages, networking, and a shared commitment by stakeholders to deepen partnerships and advance inclusive communication in Lagos State.
