The Lagos political community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, the only son of former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
Dr. Adefulire, a UK-based medical doctor, was reported to have died in the early hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after undergoing a surgical procedure in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
A family source confirmed the development to Lagos Panorama, describing the incident as sudden, devastating, and an immense loss to the Adefulire family. He is survived by his wife and children.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also confirmed the tragedy. Party spokesperson Seye Oladejo described the incident as “a most dreadful tragedy for any parent,” noting that the entire party structure had been deeply shaken by the news.
Princess Orelope-Adefulire, a respected figure in Lagos politics, served as Deputy Governor between 2011 and 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola. She currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a position she was reappointed to in September 2023.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
