The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a new set of ambassadorial appointments, describing the move as a decisive step toward strengthening Nigeria’s global engagement and restoring the country’s international influence.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Lagos APC Spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, said the appointments signal a shift from domestic reforms to a more assertive foreign policy posture aimed at projecting Nigeria’s renewed confidence and strategic intent on the world stage.

Oladejo noted that the newly selected envoys reflect a blend of experience, professionalism, and patriotism, adding that their deployment demonstrates the administration’s commitment to a results-driven diplomacy.

“These ambassadors represent a diplomatic team purposefully assembled to engage global partners from a position of strength,” he said.

“Our envoys are expected to defend Nigeria’s interests, deepen bilateral relations, counter negative narratives, and pursue opportunities that benefit our citizens.”

He emphasized that the Tinubu administration has introduced far-reaching reforms in security, economic management, and governance, which now serve as the foundation for a foreign policy that is “proactive, assertive, and reflective of Nigeria’s leadership responsibilities in Africa and beyond.”

The Lagos APC said the ambassadors are expected to drive a broad foreign policy agenda, including:

Strengthening Nigeria’s role in ECOWAS and the African Union

Expanding security and counter-terrorism cooperation

Enhancing trade, investment, and economic diplomacy

Championing energy transition and climate initiatives

Building mutually beneficial global partnerships

Providing stronger institutional support for Nigerians abroad

According to the party, Nigeria is ready to reassert its influence after years of inconsistent foreign policy engagement and intends to contribute more meaningfully to regional and global discourse.

“President Tinubu’s vision is clear: Nigeria will engage the world with clarity of purpose, dignity, and strategic foresight,” Oladejo stated. “The nation is prepared to move from renewal to global resonance.”

The Lagos APC expressed full confidence in the capacity of the appointed ambassadors to elevate Nigeria’s standing internationally and deliver tangible diplomatic gains once deployed.
