COAS Visits Injured Troops, Reaffirms Commitment to Their Welfare

As part of his maiden operational tour of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday, 21 November 2025, visited soldiers receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

As part of his maiden operational tour of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday, 21 November 2025, visited soldiers receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

During the visit, the COAS commended the wounded personnel for their bravery, resilience and sacrifice in defending the nation. He assured them of the Nigerian Army’s firm commitment to providing comprehensive medical care and all necessary support to aid their full recovery.

Lieutenant General Shaibu, who disclosed that he was previously admitted to the same facility after sustaining injuries in the line of duty, said he fully understands the physical and emotional challenges confronting wounded soldiers. He expressed confidence in the hospital’s capacity, noting that the facility remains one of the Army’s foremost medical centres with a proven record of excellence.

The Army Chief encouraged the recuperating troops to strictly adhere to their treatment plans as advised by medical professionals. He reiterated that improving the welfare of personnel and their families remains a central pillar of his leadership agenda.

General Shaibu also praised the Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, alongside the officers, soldiers and civilian staff of the hospital, for their professionalism, dedication and service to humanity. He inspected key areas of the hospital to assess ongoing upgrades and infrastructural improvements.

Continuing his operational visit, the COAS proceeded to Headquarters Sub-Sector 4 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway, where he interacted with troops, evaluated their readiness and boosted their morale.
