The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to play in Sunday’s crucial World Cup playoff match against DR Congo.
CAF explained that yellow cards accumulated during the World Cup qualifying rounds do not carry over into the playoff phase. Only players serving active and officially confirmed suspensions remain ineligible for selection.
The clarification comes as a major boost for Nigeria, as Ndidi’s return to the squad offers added stability, experience, and defensive assurance in midfield ahead of the decisive encounter.
