In a proactive move to promote women’s health and early detection of breast cancer, the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon Moyosore Adebanjo has announced a one-day free breast cancer sensitization, screening, and examination exercise for all women in the community.
Breast cancer remains one of the world’s most prevalent health challenges, affecting millions of women globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 670,000 women lost their lives to breast cancer in 2022.
However, experts affirm that many of these cases could have been prevented or detected early through regular screening, timely awareness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
The sensitization programme, which aims to educate women on the importance of early detection and self-examination, is scheduled as follows:

The Council Chairman, Adebanjo emphasized that the initiative reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to community health and women’s empowerment. He urged all women, irrespective of age or background, to take advantage of the free medical outreach.
“Early detection saves lives,” he said, encouraging residents to spread the word and participate fully in the life-saving exercise.
