Youth Football Tournament Aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
LAGOS, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2025:
Registration has officially commenced for the much-anticipated APC Lagos State Chairman’s Cup, a grassroots football tournament designed to discover young talents, promote unity, and empower youths across the state.
Speaking on the commencement, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Conference 57, announced that interested players under the age of 21 can now obtain registration forms at the offices of their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The competition will feature teams from all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs, bringing together youths from all 57 councils under one unifying mission — to nurture emerging football stars and harness sports as a tool for development and inclusion.
According to Hon. Olowa, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focusing on youth development, discipline, and leadership. He emphasized that the Chairman’s Cup is more than a tournament — it is a talent discovery and empowerment project aimed at building a generation of confident and purpose-driven young Nigerians.
Organizers revealed that participants stand a chance to win exciting cash prizes, trophies, take-home rewards, and football development trips, while exceptional players will be scouted for professional opportunities.
The APC Lagos State Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, reaffirmed that football remains a powerful unifying force and a veritable tool for youth mobilization and empowerment. “Through this initiative, we are engaging over 5,000 young people across Lagos in a positive, competitive, and life-changing experience,” he said.
Interested youths and teams are encouraged to visit their local government offices or register via the official website:
