In a major political development, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reportedly resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along with 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
The news was disclosed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Although full details remain unclear, sources within the state government indicate that Governor Diri and the lawmakers may be on the verge of formally declaring for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.
If confirmed, the move would mark one of the most significant political realignments in the Niger Delta region since the 2023 general elections.
