LAGOS — With deep sorrow but immense gratitude for a life of service and distinction, the family of Surv. (Chief) Olukunle Akinola, FRICS, DFNIS, has announced his peaceful transition to glory at the age of 94.

LAGOS — With deep sorrow but immense gratitude for a life of service and distinction, the family of Surv. (Chief) Olukunle Akinola, FRICS, DFNIS, has announced his peaceful transition to glory at the age of 94.

Chief Akinola, a trailblazer and revered statesman, made history as the first Surveyor-General of Lagos State. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a respected community leader and held the esteemed chieftaincy title of Asoju Oba of Ipaja.

Renowned for his integrity, humility, and dedication to public service, Chief Akinola’s remarkable contributions to Lagos State and Nigeria’s surveying profession will remain a lasting legacy.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements, according to a statement signed by one of his son, Engr. (Maiyegun) Kehinde Akinola the Chairman Governing Council Maritime Academy of Nigeria, on behalf of the family, will be announced in due course.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
