ODUNMBAKU STRENGTHENS EDUCATION SECTOR WITH BACK-TO-SCHOOL INITIATIVE, HONOURS EXEMPLARY TEACHERS IN OJODU LCDA

In a continued drive to promote access to quality education and support for young learners, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has launched the Back-to-School Initiative and Teachers’ Empowerment Scheme at a colourful ceremony held on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, at the Council Secretariat Hall.

In a continued drive to promote access to quality education and support for young learners, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has launched the Back-to-School Initiative and Teachers’ Empowerment Scheme at a colourful ceremony held on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, at the Council Secretariat Hall.

The event featured the distribution of 2,000 school bags, 25,000 exercise books, and other writing materials to pupils across all public primary schools in the LCDA, including Ojodu Primary Schools 1–3, Estate Primary School, Ogba Primary School, and Oke Ira Primary School.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational development, Hon. Odunmbaku described education as “the foundation for societal progress,” outlining a series of interventions under his leadership. These include the distribution of 500 classroom furniture, free JAMB and GCE forms for indigent students—with an additional 250 GCE forms distributed last month—and the introduction of digital training programmes in partnership with TCK Fellowship, which has already trained over 2,600 pupils in coding, robotics, and digital literacy. The programme, he noted, will be expanded to all primary schools this term.

Under the Teachers’ Empowerment Scheme, three outstanding educators — Mrs. Abiodun Salamotu Shuaib, Mrs. Tijani Ibrahim Kafayat, and Mrs. Mariam Omobolanle — were honoured with cash awards of ₦350,000, ₦250,000, and ₦150,000 respectively, while ten other teachers received ₦50,000 consolation prizes for their dedication to duty.

In addition, the Wife of the Chairman, Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, distributed sanitary pads to schoolgirls as part of the council’s broader youth welfare initiative, in alignment with the administration’s HEYS Reloaded Agenda.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Funmilayo Layeni, the House Leader, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, councillors, education stakeholders, and community leaders, who commended the council’s proactive investment in human capital developme
