• Topcu called Nigerian star ‘black monkey’

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is facing a potential 1-3 match ban due to his aggressive conduct during the Istanbul Derby against Besiktas.

A heated confrontation erupted in the 39th minute when Osimhen, feeling wronged after an aerial duel, confronted Besiktas’ Emirhan Topcu aggressively, even grabbing him by the throat.

Referee and teammates were forced to intervene to diffuse the situation.

Reports suggest that Topcu provoked Osimhen by using a racist slur, referring to him as “a black monkey,” which undeniably escalated tensions on the field.

While the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has yet to formally announce any additional sanctions for Osimhen, it is anticipated that the Disciplinary Committee will review the incident.

Historically, similar violent actions have resulted in a ban of 1-3 matches.
