The House of Representatives has given its overwhelming backing to the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State. 
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in Rivers and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months following the severe political crisis that had engulfed the state.
Two days after the move, Tinubu forwarded a request to the National Assembly seeking their approval for the emergency rule declaration.
On Thursday, Tajudeen Abbass, Speaker of the House of Representatives, presented the president’s letter during a plenary session.
President Tinubu’s declaration received overwhelming backing from lawmakers through a voice vote, endorsing his decision.
As stated by Abbass, 240 lawmakers attended, confirming a quorum.
