Upon his return to Lagos today, Obasa was met with applause from his supporters, and he underscored the necessity of following constitutional procedure in removing a speaker.

Obasa also responded to allegations of widespread corruption, which allegedly contributed to his removal, describing the claims of financial impropriety as unfounded.

Following Obasa’s removal while he was away in the United States of America, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda from Apapa 01 Constituency was sworn-in as the new Speaker. Meranda was the deputy speaker to Obasa.

Meranda had since secured the acceptance of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), a powerful group within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
