Ukpeseraye made history as the first Nigerian cyclist at the Olympics. She competed in the women’s road race but did not register a score after failing to complete the event.

While she later took part in the Keirin and Sprint cycling event, ending sixth in the first round, the 25-year-old narrated how the German team offered her a bicycle for the race.

“Due to the short notice of me competing at the keirin & Sprint, #teamNigeria I had no bicycle to race with on the tracks,” she wrote on X.

“In the spirit of sportsmanship, the German team @bunddeutscherradfahr came to my rescue by offering me a bicycle.
