President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday evening landed in Lagos for Thursday’s inauguration of the Red Line Rail project.

President Tinubu arrived Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 6.00pm enroute Ondo State where he earlier paid a condolence visit to the widow of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The president was received in Owo, the hometown of Akeredolu, by Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo; Olayide Adelami, his deputy, and other top politicians.

Tinubu also visited Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti at his residence in Ondo. He also visited the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.

The Red Line Rail Project is a 37 Kilometres North South rail route proposed to run from Agbado to Marina with 13 stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, MMIA International, MMIA Domestic, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, Ebute meta, Iddo, Ebute Ero and Marina.

The Lagos State Government signed a track sharing agreement with the Federal Ministry of Transport through Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in 2018 to utilize the track standard gauge railway track planned to convey commuters between Abuja and Lagos through Ibadan and Alagbado to Iddo.
