Actor shot in Ogun accidental discharge, Ijaduade in stable condition, say police

Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, said a Nigerian actor, Azeez Ijaduade, who was shot by a police officer in Iperu, Ogun State, is in a stable condition.

The report of Ijaduade being shot by a trigger-happy policeman was disclosed by his colleague, one Abiodun Adebanjo, via his Instagram handle, @iamabiodunadebanjo, yesterday.

The actor wrote: “Please, we need 12help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by Nigerian police personnel. He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”

Ijaduade, his crew members, and other actors were said to be having a movie shoot at the same hotel when the shot hit the Nollywood actor’s neck.

But the command said it received the report of the shooting incident from Napoli Hotel manager, Fakoya Adewale, where he reported to the Divisional Police Officer that during Bramaj Company’s end of year party in the hotel, a Mobile Policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate, expended a shot into the air, and the ammunition shell hit the actor on the neck.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said: “He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition. The Commander Mopol 16 has contacted the actor and also visited him in the hospital, where he will be discharged soon. The Commander has also taken up responsibility for the medical bill.

Odutola said: “The actor also told the Commander Mopol 16 that he is in a stable condition. Members of the public will be notified when he is discharged. The Mobile Policeman has been identified and investigation into the shooting incident has commenced by the command. Members of the public will be updated accordingly.”
