The Conference of Fifty-Seven Publicity Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State met with the State’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Seye Oladejo to strategize on improving the party’s grassroots publicity and promotion, highlighting of the sustainable development activities of the elected public office holders of the party in the 57 Councils and State.

The Conference of Fifty-Seven Publicity Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State met with the State’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Seye Oladejo to strategize on improving the party’s grassroots publicity and promotion, highlighting of the sustainable development activities of the elected public office holders of the party in the 57 Councils and State.

The APC Grassroots Publicists converged at the Party Secretariat, Acme road, Ikeja on Thursday morning to present their planned activities in ensuring that the APC improve on its grassroots catchment and acceptability by the populace

The Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Tayo Aderinola who was appointed and unanimously endorsed before the deliberation with the State Publicity Secretary unveiled their mission to Acme.

The Coordinator revealed and emphasized on the level of neglect of the LGA/LCDA Publicity Secretaries as unfortunate and unproductive to the party.

Aderinola further reiterated the commitment of conference of 57 Publicity Secretaries in Lagos State towards the promotion of Progressives ideals as propagated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and publicizing the party’s manifesto ditto the success of the party in any forthcoming elections in the state.

He expressed the significant role of Publicity Secretaries in politics and governance but noted that the office requires funding and without resources very little can be achieved.

The trained journalist and media Practitioner also revealed the plan of publication of a magazine that would cover the 57 Councils from the stable of Conference.

Corroborating the Coordinator, Alhaji Suraj Abejamu from Eti-Osa humbly expressed his concerns on the part of the State Publicity Secretary towards the LGA Publicity Secretaries.

He said “I am of the opinion that the Publicity Secretaries are the mouth piece of our respective LGA/LCDA but it seemed reversed is the case, as we’re not recognize to play our role”.

Mr. Wunmi Ayeni from Iba LCDA said there should be proper integration and synergy between the Publicity Secretaries with the Council Information Officers and CPS for a better promotions of the activities of the Local Government Councils.

He appealed to the State Publicity Secretary to boost the body’s recognition and not to be portrayed as been irrelevant.

Mr Adinlewa Oluwafemi from Ikorodu North, requested for the roles of Publicity Secretaries, he further stated that most programme executed by the councils are inaugurated without inviting or giving the party Publicity Secretaries any awareness or sense of belonging.

He cited a case of an invitation by a media house for him to speak on the progress of the Council Chairman who is representing the party in the Local government, whereas he is not equipped enough to address any media because he’s not aware of the activities of the Council, so he had to excused the interview.

He admonished Hon  Oladejo to liaise with the State Governor to source for update on government activities and relevant information while this body would also use his channel to effectively disseminate to the grassroots.

In his response the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo expressed his appreciation for all the speakers for their confidence in expressing their mind. He encouraged members to work hand in hand as he revealed his strategy when he assumed office as State Publicity Secretary.

He alluded to the requests of the forum and urged association to document their request and address it to the State Chairman. He promised to expedite action when referred to him

He further promised to furnish them with any relevant update from the State Government, while he identifies greed as only reason behind not given the Publicity Secretaries their due recognition and role to play because of the significance of the position

Hon. Seye Oladejo, asked the body to formally put their request in writing, addressed to the State Chairman stating our demands and promised to expedite action when referred to him.
