Lagos State Police Command has declared emergency on cultism, saying the menace was the greatest challenge of the Command. Spokesperson for the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who paraded the suspects, said a great number of the cultists were arrested in Ikorodu, Badagry and Isolo.

He added that three of the notorious gangs terrorising Ikorodu and Isolo led by a cultist nicknamed ‘70’, have been arrested. He said: “We are grateful to the people of Ikorodu that with their coorperation, we have been able to take out these cultists- Nojim Kasamitu, Abraham Abubakar, 37, Abuwsri, 19, and Awosenyide Sikiru, 29, and others from their community.

“In Isolo, it is no longer news that cultism is rearing its ugly head there. I am sure members of the community will be happy with this news because the Commissioner of Police (CP) Idowu Owohunwa, actually charged the tactical teams, which he decentralised to ensure that activities of cultists in the state were brought to the barest minimum and this has been yielding results.”
