LASUBEB, UBEC inspect smart model school project in Badagry

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), have reiterated that the collaboration on the ongoing construction of a⁸ Smart Model School in Lagos State would enhance teaching and learning to global standards.

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), have reiterated that the collaboration on the ongoing construction of a⁸ Smart Model School in Lagos State would enhance teaching and learning to global standards.

Speaking at the site of the ongoing Smart Model School project funded by UBEC, under FGN/UBEC direct intervention at Iworo-Ajido in Badagry area of Lagos, the Executive Chairman LASUBEB, Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, said the edifice will improve the learning and teaching status in the State.

He explained that the project was in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the State Government, adding that it would also bring digitalization to public primary schools.

Alawiye-King, therefore, urged stakeholders and the community to take ownership of the project, while also ensuring the security of the premises at all times.

Executive Secretary, UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, applauded LASUBEB for the progress of Basic Education and for standing out among other States, noting that Lagos SUBEB is succeeding in achieving her goal of leaving no child behind in primary education.

He stated that the purpose of the visit was to strategize with the Board on how best to upscale teaching and learning to global standards and also inspect the ongoing construction of the Smart Model School.

The Executive Secretary explained that the Commission and the Board have partnered with Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) on the deployment of the art equipment, training of teachers, and provision of technical expertise on completion of the project.

Dr. Bobboyi also expressed his gratitude to the community for their generosity towards the development of education, adding that the Iworo-Ajido community was chosen for the project due to its vast expanse of land and serene environment.

He noted that the all-inclusive, digital-driven school is the first of its kind in the Southwest Zone, stating that it is to be replicated in the six geo-political zones, 13 States, and FCT.

“This project will create a better and newer concept in teaching and learning. Digital learning will not only develop skills among pupils but increase their knowledge base, which will empower them for global competitiveness”, he said.

While pledging the support of the Commission in fast-tracking the completion of the project, the Executive Secretary urged the community leaders and residents to encourage their wards to access basic education.
